Guida confirmed the bout during an appearance on ESPN Chicago’s “MMA Tonight” on Sunday night. The popular and frenetic lightweight had openly campaigned for a bout with the Japanese legend for several months.
Sources close to the bout informed Heavy.com on Monday morning that the Guida/Gomi is currently scheduled to air on the pay per view card and not as part of the unaired preliminary card.
Guida will look to win his third straight fight after beating Shannon Gugerty and Rafael dos Anjos. Gomi is coming off a stunning 64-second knockout of Tyson Griffin in August.
