Despite not making the playoffs since 2001, the Seattle Mariners are considered a favorite to win the American League championship, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Mariners, which finished a game out of the postseason a season ago, are listed at 11/2 odds, the same as the Boston Red Sox.

Boston struggled in 2014, going 71-91, but is a year removed from a World Series title.

The defending AL pennant champions, the Kansas City Royals, are at 14/1, same as the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles, who won the East in 2014.
