Winning a golf tournament puts a lot of money in your pocket.
Winning a major golf tournament takes it to another level.
The 2015 British Open has a total purse of $9.2 million, just as the Masters and U.S. Open did.
The winner’s share for this year’s Open Championship is roughly $1.8 million. And that money goes to Zach Johnson, who outlasted Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a playoff.
Oosthuizen and Leishman will receive more than $825,000 apiece.
Jordan Spieth won the same amount for taking the first two majors of the season.
