For the 50th season in franchise history, the Steelers have opened camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. They’ve opened a bit early this year, as the Steelers will head to Canton to play in their first Hall of Fame Game since 2007. Although the location has been the same for five decades, this year’s Steelers team is built differently than fans traditionally expect.
After 11 seasons on the sidelines, Dick Lebeau will not be the Defensive Coordinator for the Steelers. Lebeau had the top-ranked defense five times during his time in Pittsburgh, but now it’s time for Keith Butler to take the reins of a group that is in somewhat of a transition period. After past stars like Polamalu and Harrison have moved on, Butler will now be charged with running a system that is no longer the front office priority. In the Steelers’ new era, the focus is on Ben, Brown, Bell, and the rest of the Pittsburgh offense.
