Two Florida teams meet Week two for regional bragging rights but also in an important early season test. Jacksonville doesn’t have the deep history to compare with the Dolphins, but it has small bragging rights. Despite recent struggles, Jacksonville has still been to an AFC Championship game more recently than Miami. Miami last made an appearance in 1992, while the Jaguars were one game away from the Super Bowl in 1999. History aside, both teams have plenty to fight for on Sunday.
Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins emerged victors Sunday in Washington, but failed to control the game and were ultimately saved by a Jarvis Landry punt return. They trailed in time of possession by over 15 minutes to Washington, and escaped past a Redskins team that continually made mistakes.
Jacksonville stayed close with reigning NFC South champ Carolina in their opener, but a pick-six from sophomore QB Blake Bortles put the game out of reach. Bortles underthrew his receiver midway through the 3rd quarter, and was mocked by Panthers CB Josh Norman on his way to the endzone. Mistakes aside there were several bright spots for the young team, namely T.J. Yeldon, who looked smooth rushing and catching passes. They open EverBank field once again Sunday, hoping for a better result against a tough Dolphins team.
