One of the strongest contenders at the 2015 Rugby World Cup, Australia begins its tournament Wednesday against Fiji.
The Wallabies, ranked No. 2 in the world, are big favorites in this one. The two-time champions have advanced past pool play every World Cup and haven’t lost to Fiji since 1954.
Moreover, while Japan’s shocking upset of South Africa over the weekend will likely provide even more hope for Fiji, which battled England tough before eventually falling to the hosts, it has also put Australia on notice.
“I think they were going to come hard no matter what and we’re going to try to showcase our type of footy, whatever the occasion,” said lock Will Skelton. “We’d play a smart game with power and physicality. I’m just really looking forward to it, they’re going to be up for it now.”
