Through all of the Bears’ injuries this season, Matt Forte has been a reliable constant.
Now he’s just one of the guys.
Forte went to the locker room under his own power during the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, and didn’t return with a knee injury. Forte, who is in his eigth NFL season, has missed only four games in his entire career. Forte is currently ranked sixth in the NFL with 507 rushing yards.
If Forte can’t play for Chicago next Monday night against the Chargers, it will be his first missed game since 2012. Starting in his place would be rookie Jeremy Langford, who had fifteen carries on the season heading into Week 8.
It’s bad enough Forte’s name was dragged around in trade rumors, now his fantasy stock is most definitely dropping. Forte has been a rock in both standard and PPR formats, but his status for next week is in serious jeopardy. If it’s just a knee bruise, Forte could benefit from the extra day of rest and suit up Monday. If it’s something more serious, Langford will become the hottest pickup on the waiver wire this week.
