The WWE universe is mere days away from Battleground, the latest pay-per-view in which Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns will compete for the World Heavyweight Championship. Now, some early rumors may reveal who will emerge victorious.

According to a rumor from Cageside Seats, Seth Rollins will win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Battleground. He will do so by pinning Dean Ambrose, and it’s expected that Rollins will continue a feud with Roman Reigns over the championship going into SummerSlam on August 21st.

This fits in with a previous rumor that next month’s SummerSlam will see a match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, which if this report is correct, would be over the championship belt. This direction would make sense, as Rollins and Reigns were both drafted to Monday Night Raw, while Ambrose was drafted to SmackDownsuggesting The Lunatic Fringe will not be a part of this feud for much longer.

Naturally, this result will leave a lot of Dean Ambrose fans quite disappointed, but it will be a big moment for Seth Rollins, who can finally reclaim the championship and retain it for an extended period of time. He won it back from Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank in June, only to immediately lose it when Dean Ambrose cashed in his contract. Rollins also seemed to win the title back from Ambrose on Monday Night Raw this week, but that was immediately called into question, and the referee later declared that Ambrose had held onto the title.

It would make sense to allow Ambrose to retain the title, though, as a way to make SmackDown that much more important. The WWE has been trying to boost viewership to that show this year, and so having it be the home to the Heavyweight Champion would certainly establish it as equally important as Raw. The champion being on Raw could have the opposite effect, although it’s still unclear whether the company will establish its own championship belt for SmackDown.

Whether this rumor is accurate or not, it seems safe to say that Roman Reigns will not be the winner of the triple threat match on Sunday. Vince McMahon is reportedly still quite upset with Reigns due to the performer’s drug violation, according to Inquisitr, and so it’s highly unlikely that Reigns will be rewarded the World Heavyweight Championship on the same night he returns. Reigns was suspended for violating the wellness policy, and it’s rumored that he was taking Adderall.
