If the Week 1 play from the Lions’ rookies is any indication, the future is bright in Detroit.

Sixth-round pick Jake Rudock, a quarterback from Michigan, completed 8 of 11 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown and seventh-rounder Dwayne Washington returned a kickoff 96 yards for another score in the Lions’ 30-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In Week 2 of the preseason, the Lions host another AFC North team, the Cincinnati Bengals, at Ford Field on Thursday, August 18. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The game will air on FOX in the Detroit area and on CBS in Cincinnati.

Lions starting QB Matthew Stafford completed 4 of 6 passes for 58 yards in limited action. Detroit (1-0) lost future Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson to retirement in the offseason and have a brand new stable of WRs for 2016. Andre Roberts caught 3 passes for 57 yards and a score, Jeremy Kerley had 5 for 36 yards, Anquan Boldin reeled in one reception for 30 yards and Marvin Jones had one grab for 11 yards.
