It has been a year of changes for Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck, whose move to South Beach initially brought the star closer to then girlfriend Hanna Cavinder. On January 10, 2025, Beck announced his transfer from the Georgia Bulldogs to Miami, and the quarterback went viral after a social media video with Cavinder showed the former couple throwing up the signature “U” sign.
Months later, it became clear that the two were no longer an item. Beck transferred to Miami after previously announcing his intention to enter the 2025 NFL draft.

Back in April, Cavinder offered her unfiltered reasons for breaking up with Beck during an interview with Miami golfer Kai Trump. The former Canes basketball player pointed to Beck’s personality and shot down rumors of infidelity prompting the split.
“He has an ego,” Cavinder told Trump at the time, per Fox News. “He wanted people to stop and take a picture.
“He would, like, flip off people at the bar, and I’d be embarrassed. So I broke up with him, and all this cheating (expletive) came out. I had no idea,” Cavinder added.
“I didn’t break up with him because he cheated. I broke up with him because of like who he was.”

“We finished our basketball careers and are solely focused (on) our business and brand,” Cavinder responded to fans in a March Instagram comment, per Marca.
Carson Beck Gets Candid on a Challenging 2025: ‘It Was Very Difficult Physically, Mentally, Emotionally’
Since arriving at Miami, Beck has been candid about the difficult “eight months” the quarterback has been through. Beck was recovering from an elbow injury that sidelined him for Georgia’s brief run in the College Football Playoff. The star’s recent breakup likely did not make things any easier, especially since Beck just moved to Miami.
“It kind of just was very overwhelming for me,” Beck told ESPN’s “College GameDay” during a September 20, interview when discussing his emotions following Miami’s Week 1 win over Notre Dame. “Just kind of looking back at the eight months that I had just been through, I didn’t know if I was ever going to be able to throw a football the way that I did before or again.
“…Man, it (the recovery process) was very difficult physically, mentally, emotionally. And a lot of the times it was really hard to see the light at the end of that tunnel.”
As for Beck’s reason for leaving Georgia, the signal-caller noted that everything has a “shelf life.” The football breakup between Georgia and Beck could end up working out for both parties as Gunner Stockton has emerged for the Bulldogs since the quarterback’s departure.
