Cristiano Ronaldo made a major decision regarding his time with Saudi club Al Nassr, who he’s represented for more than two years since 2022. Fortunately for the team, they will have the Portugal star back for more than one year.

Ronaldo signed a two-year extension with the club, which is set to expire in June 2027. He has starred as the club’s leading striker, scoring 93 goals in 105 matches. In terms of silverware, he has the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup title to his name.

The 40-year-old Portuguese forward reflected on his new deal with Al Nassr via Record. Even at his advanced age, he continues to not quit as he feels he still has a lot to accomplish before walking away for good.

“The ambition I feel has no finish line,” Ronaldo said.

“It is consistency, commitment, and collective work that will make us better. And that is the task I am here for. We are starting a new chapter!”

Ronaldo also made sure to celebrate the news with a post across his social media platforms. In the photo, it shows him holding his jersey that has 2027 as the number, indicating how long he will remain with the team.

“A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together. 🟡🔵,” Ronaldo said in the post.

Al Nassr is now at peace after retaining Cristiano Ronaldo as their star striker. He brought a huge spotlight to them and the Saudi Pro League (SPL), emphasizing the importance of the club securing his services for two more years.

They will now look forward to returning to the top spot of the standings going into next season. Al Nassr finished second place in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, trailing Al Hilal in both years. This past campaign saw them end at third in the standings, far from the expectations they set for themselves as an elite club in the country.

As for Ronaldo, he continues his pursuit of scoring 1,000 goals, a milestone that very few footballers accomplished. With 794 goals at the club level and 138 for the Portuguese national team, he has 932 goals and counting. He needs 68 to make history, something he can pull off in the next two years.

Ronaldo is also coming off a successful summer with his nation. He scored two goals in the semifinals and final of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League, helping Portugal beat Germany and Spain.

Even though he came off injured in the second half of the final, Portugal came through to prevail in a penalty shootout. This gave Ronaldo his second Nations League title, his first since the 2018-19 edition.

Ronaldo knows he has a lot to prepare for when the fall arrives. While he resumes work with Al Nassr, he will prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with Portugal when their first matches take place in September. They face Armenia on Sept. 6 and Hungary on Sept. 9.
