How Ryder Cup Foursomes Work
As always, Ryder Cup scoring is based on match play on a hole-to-hole basis. Foursomes play is also known as an alternate-shot format. Only one player will tee off on each hole, and they will alternate shots with their teammates until completing the hole. There will be a foursomes session on both Friday and Saturday.
The home team has scored more points in foursomes in each of the last nine Ryder Cups. Since 2006, the home team is 45-16-11, with Team USA going 19-9-4 in foursomes over that span.
