LA Dodgers’ Former First-Rounder Named Top Trade Candidate

Bobby Miller
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller has been named a top trade candidate to watch.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are entering the 2026 season with plenty to be happy about. They are not only coming off back-to-back World Series championships but once again have an incredibly deep roster in 2026.

The Dodgers made some notable moves during the offseason that undoubtedly should strengthen their group. They signed star outfielder Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million contract in free agency, and he will be a major part of their roster moving forward. They also brought in star reliever Edwin Diaz on a three-year, $69 million contract to bolster their bullpen. With this, there is no question that the Dodgers have a lot to be confident about heading into the 2026 campaign.

Yet, with the Dodgers having so much depth, it can sometimes make it challenging for their younger players to land significant roles in the organization. Because of this, a former Dodgers first-round pick has now been named among baseball’s top trade candidates to watch for the 2026 season.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Bobby Miller Named a Trade Candidate to Watch

In a recent article for Bleacher Report. Joel Reuter took a look at seven trade candidates who could use a fresh start this season. A Dodgers pitcher made the cut, as Bobby Miller was given the No. 5 spot on Reuter’s list.

“Armed with a fastball that averaged 99.1 mph and three different swing-and-miss offspeed pitches, Bobby Miller looked like a long-term rotation piece for the Dodgers when he logged a 3.76 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 119 strikeouts in 124.1 innings in 2023,” Reuter wrote. “He was crushed in one April spot start last season, allowing eight hits and six runs in three innings, and spent the bulk of the season back at Triple-A, shifting to a bullpen role in July. Now he’s looking to resurrect his career, entering his age-27 season with two minor league options remaining.”

When noting that Miller has had trouble cementing himself as a full-time MLB pitcher since his strong rookie season in 2023, it makes sense that he is being viewed as a trade candidate to watch this season. The 6-foot-5 righty has struggled in Los Angeles and could benefit from getting a fresh start on a team that could give him more consistent playing time.

If the Dodgers make Miller available, it is likely that several teams would be interested in taking a chance on him. He is a former first-round pick, after all, and has already had past success in the majors. With this, he still has the potential to become an impactful pitcher at the major league level.

Dodgers’ Miller Is A Prime Breakout Candidate

While Miller had a tough 2025 season, both in the majors and the minors, the possibility of him breaking out in 2026 should not be ruled out. He has good upside, and the new season offers him the opportunity to try to put together a bounce-back year.

With this, it would be understandable if teams targeted Miller this campaign. Teams are always on the hunt for young pitchers, and it will be interesting to see what the Dodgers decide to do with him from here.
