The 2026 MLB season is officially underway and there are a few teams who look like top-tier World Series Contenders. Among those teams are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Quite a few teams have the talent to win it all, but there is a clear favorite for many.
After winning each of the last two World Series championships, the Dodgers enter the 2026 season as a favorite once again. They return most of their core from last season, but were also able to add superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker in free agency.
Once again, Los Angeles was the big winner of the MLB offseason. The team continues to show a willingness to pay big money to win championships.
With the 2026 season now underway, ESPN MLB insider Buster Olney has weighed in with his clear World Series prediction.
Buster Olney Makes Confident World Series Prediction
During an appearance on “Get Up,” Olney made it clear that he is rocking with the Dodgers to win it all again this season. They would become the first team to three-peat as World Series champions since the Yankees did it back in 1998, 1999, and 2000.
“I think you’re just trying to be interesting if you’re taking any team other than the Dodgers, because they are that good,” Olney said.
At the end of the day, he’s not wrong. Los Angeles is by far the most talented team in baseball on paper. If the Dodgers play up to their full talent and potential, they’re almost unbeatable, especially in a seven-game series.
That being said, the games must be played. Los Angeles still needs to play up to its level of potential.

While there is always a chance that the Dodgers could be defeated, they should be the clear-cut favorite. They have Shohei Ohtani, Tucker, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman in their lineup, along with a great supporting cast.
On the pitching front, Los Angeles will feature Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Blake Snell when he’s back to full health. The bullpen is also stacked with talent.
It will be interesting to see how the 2026 MLB season unfolds. For now, it is the Dodgers who are standing out to Olney and many other analysts as World Series favorites.
