The Los Angeles Dodgers have been involved in the free agency sweepstakes for superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker.
Entering the offseason, Tucker was the prized free agent on the market. He was expecting to receive a contract near the $400 million mark, although that market has not developed to this point in time.
Outside of the Dodgers, there are a few other teams who continue to be connected as a potential destination for Tucker. Those teams include the New York Mets, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays. Another team who has been talked about some is the Chicago Cubs, who Tucker played for last season.
Tucker remains a free agent and there have been questions about what kind of timeline he has. When could the elite hitter make a decision on where to sign?
A new update has been shared on that front.
According to longtime MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, Tucker could sign with a new team sometime soon.
“I would not be surprised if it were this week, next week, sometime soon,” Rosenthal said.

All offseason long, fans in Los Angeles have been waiting to see the team take its usual big swing. Edwin Diaz is the biggest addition so far this offseason.
While Diaz was a quality addition, he doesn’t necessarily move the needle for the Dodgers. Making a move for a talent like Tucker would change the landscape of baseball.
Last season, Los Angeles had one of the most dangerous offenses in the league. Adding one of the best pure bats in baseball in the form of Tucker would make the offensive even more lethal.
During the 2025 MLB season with the Cubs, Tucker struggled with some injury problems. He still put together a solid all-around year, although the numbers were not quite as high as expected.
In the 136 games he played, Tucker hit 22 home runs to go along with 73 RBI and a slash line of .266/.377/.464. He was a big part of leading Chicago to the NLDS before falling short against the NL Central rival Milwaukee Brewers.
Should Dodgers Fans Get Excited About Tucker?
What are the chances that Tucker actually chooses the Dodgers as his next team? That remains to be seen.
That being said, Los Angeles is arguably the most attractive destination in baseball for players who want to win. The Dodgers have won the World Series in each of the last two seasons. They don’t appear likely to fall off anytime soon.
Tucker loves to win. If Los Angeles is offering a similar deal to a team like the Mets and Yankees, he would have to take into consideration the likelihood of winning a championship.
So, to answer the question, should Dodgers fans gets excited? They absolutely should and there is a very real chance that the team makes yet another splash. However, until Tucker actually makes his decision, anything is possible.
