The Dodgers are in the middle of another outstanding season.
That said, Kyle Tucker (who is in his first year with the team) has struggled.
He is currently batting .232 with 99 hits, 11 home runs, 55 RBIs, 68 runs and seven stolen bases in 120 games.
In a recent interview with MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM, manager Dave Roberts spoke about Tucker (on August 19).
Roberts: “My message to him is you’re not alone. But when you catch a ball at your shoe tops and drop it, that’s a tell where you’re not in a good spot mentally. People miss live balls all the time it happens, shouldn’t happen, but it does. But when you’re catching it that low, it’s just kind of you’re really unsure, right? The at-bats it’s kind of the indecisiveness and I think for me it’s just wanting him to go out there and expect good things to happen, go play free and easy. You’re not going to have a 900 this year, but each day just go out there and help us win a game. And I think yesterday, I was really excited, his teammates were excited where guy on second base, all he’s trying to do is get the guy over. And then he gets rewarded with a double and I think that when you start just playing just to win and take the individual performance out of it. Hopefully, that kind of alleviates some kind of angst and some frustrations, but yeah, I mean, he’s probably never struggled like this in his life.”
Tucker has also spent time with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs over nine seasons at the MLB level.
