The New York Mets have done it again, and it happened in heartbreak fashion once again. After their 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins, the Mets have now lost 12 straight MLB games. They are approaching the longest losing streak in franchise history.
On Tuesday, the Mets were up 3-0, but surrendered four unanswered runs, and lost 4-3.
Jeff Passan wrote (after the game): “The Mets lost their 12th straight after blowing a three-run lead. They didn’t get a hit over the final five innings. At 7-16, they are tied for the worst record in MLB. There is ugly, and then there is this. Juan Soto is expected to return tomorrow. That’s a start at least.”

Will the Mets Ever Win Again?

GettyNew York mayor Zohran Mamdani started a firestorm with his trip to Citi Field on April 9.
The New York Mets, with their $371 million payroll, can not buy a win right now. That’s seven wins on the season to 16 losses. In Major League Baseball. With a $300 million payroll.
The sky has officially fallen through the roof in Queens. Someone has to take the blame for this atrocious start to the season. That’s also 22 runs in the last 12 games, all losses.
Here are some wild reactions across the social media world:
Who is to Blame for Mets’ losing streak?

Things have gone from bad to worse, to oh goodness, is this the worst team to ever take a MLB diamond?
Someone has to take the blame for this 12-game losing streak. To make matters worse, the Mets have virtually no chance to win the NL East. It’s April 21, and the Mets could end up finishing April with 20+ losses.
Is Carlos Mendoza to blame? Maybe David Stearns for the roster construction?
Or are the players who have underwhelmed to the highest possible extent to blame, like Francisco Lindor, Devin Williams, Bo Bichette, and Marcus Semien?
Mets fans, who is to blame for this losing streak? And what wholesale changes need to be made?
