Here’s what people were saying about Volpe’s performance on social media:

Somerset Patriots: “On the NINTH pitch of the at bat, @Yankees SS Anthony Volpe CRUSHES a RBI single up the middle! 103 mph off the bat 🔥”

@TurtleneckAV11: “Keep proving them wrong king”

@SwagtoImpress: “That’s my shortstop. Caballero can hit .280 on the bench.”

@AlmquistOnAir: “Anthony Volpe… RBI single in 3rd in Somerset…”

@rudytherude: “Watching Anthony Volpe play in a AA game, I think he is ready to be called up by Yankees. 😁”

@ScottyUncle: “That’s a man that wants his job back.”

@Rickeyhenley24: “What about bringing Volpe up and moving Caballero to 3B?McMahon would be a really expensive defensive replacement, but I think Volpe would be an upgrade offensively. I just don’t think we can bench Cabby the way he’s playing.”

Volpe’s Status

Volpe has been a hot topic among Yankees fans.

He finished last year batting .212 with 19 home runs, 72 RBI’s, 65 runs and 18 stolen bases in 153 games.

Gary Phillips of NY Daily News Sports wrote (on May 1): “Anthony Volpe’s 20-day rehab clock runs through Sunday. The #Yankees would then have to activate him or option him.”

Volpe is coming off an up-and-down year, but he is just 25 (and won a Gold Glove Award during his rookie season in 2023).

A lot of eyes will be on Volpe over the next few days.
