On Thursday afternoon, the New York Yankees are playing the finale of their three-game series with the Texas Rangers (in the Bronx).

Whoever wins will take the series (after they split the first two games).

Ahead of Thursday’s game, the Yankees announced that they had made a roster move.

The Yankees wrote (via X): “Prior to today’s game, the Yankees signed RHP Brendan Beck (#89) to a Major League contract and selected him to the active roster.”

Beck made his MLB debut, going 3.2 innings (and allowing two earned runs).

Here’s what people were saying on social media:

Gary Phillips: “Solid job by Brendan Beck in his MLB debut. He exits having totaled 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K and 52 pitches.”

@TalkinYanks: “Brendan Beck enters the game for his MLB debut He’s the Yankees #21 prospect, a second-round pick in the 2021 draft”

@Steven_Cusumano: “It didn’t matter that Brendan Beck effectively missed his first 3 seasons. He came out last year with the confidence of a 2nd round pick who hadn’t missed a day, put his head down and went to work. As intelligent a pitcher as you’ll find, with the fortitude of a Major Leaguer.”

@threeinningfan: “Great to see Brendan Beck have a respectable MLB debut with the Yankees. Saw him pitch for Team Great Britain in the WBC in their win against Brazil.”

@Sportsteamnews: “Not a bad debut for Brendan Beck, definitely got into some trouble but managed to work out of it. Plenty of positives to take away.”

@ChickenParmLou: “Not a popular or desired opinion I’m sure, but thru three innings, Brendan Beck looks a lot more comfortable out there against Texas than Elmer Rodriguez did the other night.”

@cai_rogers7: “Brendan Beck’s Major League debut line is officially complete Beck went 3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 1 Always a big moment to make your debut, Congrats to Brendan!!”
