On Sunday, the Philadelphia Phillies are playing the finale of their three-game series with the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies are coming off a 9-3 win on Saturday.

That said, the series is tied up at 1-1.

During Sunday’s game, the Phillies announced that they had claimed a player off waivers from the Washington Nationals.

The Phillies wrote (via X): “The Phillies have claimed RHP Jackson Rutledge off waivers from the Washington Nationals and optioned him to Lehigh Valley (AAA).”

Rutledge allowed seven runs in his only appearance of the 2026 season.

Rutledge was the 17th pick in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Nationals.

He has spent all four seasons of his career with the team.

Over 71 career games, the 27-year-old has gone 5-3 with a 6.29 ERA.

They are 18-22 in 40 games, which has them as the third-place team in their division.

That said, the Phillies have gone 7-3 over their last ten games.

After Sunday’s game, they will be off on Monday (before a series that starts on Tuesday with the Red Sox in Boston).
