Phillies make Justin Crawford announcement.

The Philadelphia Phillies had to make a change to their lineup on Saturday.

Philadelphia originally released its lineup before Saturday’s game, which had Justin Crawford batting eighth and playing center field. However, just minutes before first pitch, the Phillies had to re-do their lineup as Crawford was scratched.

The new Phillies lineup is as follows:

  • Turner SS
  • Schwarber DH
  • Harper 1B
  • García CF
  • Stott 2B
  • Bohm 3B
  • Realmuto C
  • Stubbs LF
  • Reyes RF

Following the change in the lineup, it was revealed that Crawford was scratched from the lineup due to a migraine, according to Todd Zolecki.

“Justin Crawford has been scratched from the Phillies lineup because of a migraine. Garrett Stubbs will start in LF, Adolis Garcia in CF and Felix Reyes in RF. Brandon Marsh got drilled on the right elbow last night, so he’s unavailable,” Zolecki wrote on X.

Crawford has been off to a good start with the Phillies this season. He’s hitting .269 with 6 RBIs and 2 stolen bases this season, which is his rookie year. He was selected in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

The 22-year-old is the son of 14-year MLB veteran Carl Crawford.

Phillies Fans React to Lineup Change

Crawford has been a solid player for the Phillies in his rookie year, both offensively and defensively.

So, Crawford not playing on Saturday is a tough blow to the Phillies’ lineup, and fans were disappointed by the news.

“What is it with this team and migraine headaches…jesus,” a fan wrote.

“Seriously?? This is our lineup?,” a fan added.

“First outfield start for Stubbs as an MLB player. But he has played 32.2 innings in left field,” a fan added.

However, some Phillies fans were disappointed in how Dave Dombrowski has built this roster.

“Again, thank you, Dave Dombrowski, for the tremendous roster construction. There is a backup catcher and a first basman at the corner outfield spots and a right fielder playing center. Zero depth on the 40-man roster and horrid outfield organizational OF depth,” a fan wrote.

“Imagine if they had one of the AAA OFs like Berroa, Kemp, or De La Cruz who might hit and has played the position,” a fan wrote.

“and I now have a migraine with Garrett Stubbs starting in left field!,” a fan added.

“Here comes the excuse of why DUMBrowski will sign grichuk,” a fan wrote.

Crawford has been one of the Phillies bright spots as of late, as he’s hitting .429 in his last 4 games.

Crawford is Familiar With Don Mattingly

Although Crawford is a rookie, he is very familiar with his new manager, Don Mattingly.

Mattingly managed the Los Angeles Dodgers while Carl Crawford was on the team, and Justin remembers meeting the manager way back then.

“It was actually my dad’s very first day. I went with him into the manager’s office to see Donny, and I got to meet him,” Crawford said. “And I still remember just thinking how cool that was.”

Mattingly, meanwhile, is impressed with Crawford and how he’s handled himself as a rookie.

“I really like his demeanor,” said Mattingly. “His demeanor is kind of quiet, but he’s not shy.”

The Phillies are 4-0 since Mattingly took over as manager.
