The San Francisco Giants enjoyed an off day on Thursday after recently dropping their series to the Texas Rangers earlier this week.
It hasn’t been the season the Giants have hoped for. They sit at 48-67, but their next series, against the Detroit Tigers, is a better chance to pick up more wins, as the Giants are much better at home this season (26-27). Compared to 22-40 on the road, that’s a solid home record all things considered. However, the Detroit Tigers have been one of the hottest teams in baseball, and they are entering this season with wins on their mind, with a chance to earn an AL Wild Card spot.
Before the Tigers series began, the Giants made a pair of roster moves, including demoting 4-year player Tristan Beck.

The San Francisco Giants have selected the contract of RHP Trent Harris, which means pitcher Tristan Beck is headed to the minors in a corresponding move.
MLBTR.com’s Darragh McDonald hit the roster move, and wrote the following:
“It’s the first call to the big leagues for the 27-year-old Harris. The Giants signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He has pretty consistently posted strong numbers throughout his minor league career. He has 198 1/3 innings under his belt so far with a 2.68 earned run average. His 8.1% walk rate is a solid figure and he has punched out a really strong 31.8% of opponents.”
As for Tristan Beck, he has pitched in parts of four MLB seasons, all with the Giants. This season, he’s logged 14 innings and allowed 11 earned runs in the process.

Across four seasons and 171.2 total innings, Beck carries an ERA of 4.19 in his career.
2023 was Beck’s best total campaign, as he logged 85 innings as a rookie and posted an ERA in the 3.00s.
He’s missed some time due to injuries and such, and 2025 was semi-productive for Beck. He posted an ERA of 4.61 across 56.2 innings in the Giants bullpen, but the wheels have sort of fallen off since then.
It’s certainly plausible that he’ll be recalled at some point before the season ends, or the Giants could decide they’ve had no more and boot him off the roster. It might depend on how Trent Harris does in his MLB debut and first real big-league innings, but stay tuned for that!
