The Philadelphia Phillies, after their series win over the Washington Nationals this week, are set to begin a new MLB series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday evening.
In a recent roster move by the Philadelphia Phillies, seven-year MLB vet Lou Trivino has been brought back to the organization.

Lou Trivino Signs Minors Pact After Electing Free Agency

Less than 24 hours ago, pitcher Lou Trivino decided to elect free agency.
Well, he’s now back with the Phillies on a minor-league deal.
His transactions tracker reflects the move:
“Philadelphia Phillies signed free agent RHP Lou Trivino III to a minor league contract.”
He has since been assigned to AAA Lehigh Valley.
Trivino, 34, has pitched in four innings with the Phillies this season and surrendered four earned runs with four strikeouts in that span.
He’s pitched in parts of seven seasons with the Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Athletics.
MLBTR.com’s Anthony Franco detailed his recent decisions:
“The 34-year-old Trivino had been on the injured list for the past month with a thoracic muscle spasm. He had spent a week on a rehab assignment and was technically activated from the IL just before the DFA. That suggests he’s healthy but the Phillies didn’t want to plug him back into a bullpen that had added Raley and Kilian.”

2026 was actually Lou Trivino’s second stint with the Philadelphia Phillies.
He pitched nine innings with the organization at the end of 2025 and boasted a 2.00 ERA over that small sample size.
After spending the first five years of his career with the Athletics, he’s really bounced around from there, as he pitched with three different clubs in 2025.
Across 338.1 IP in his career, he’s boasted an ERA of 4.07 with 343 strikeouts.
It will be interesting to see if he gets his contract selected again by the Phillies, or if he goes through the same DFA limbo process that transpired this week.
