On Thursday night, the San Francisco Giants will host the New York Mets for the first of a four-game series.
They have gone 2-4 in their first six games of the new MLB season.

Over the offseason, the Giants had signed Eric Haase.
He is coming off a year where he appeared in 30 games for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Before the season began, Haase was released.
That said, he has now been brought back to the organization on a minor league deal (h/t MLB Trade Rumors).
Jeff Young of Around The Foghorn wrote (about Wednesday’s Triple-A Lineup): “It looks like Eric Haase is back with the Giants organization. He is in tonight’s lineup at catcher. Haase was originally released by the Giants at the end of spring training.”

Haase’s MLB Career

Haase was picked in the seventh round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
He has also spent time with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians.
In 2021, Haase hit 22 home runs with 61 RBI’s in 98 games for the Tigers.

Over 383 games, Haase has batted .228 with 48 home runs, 160 RBI’s and 134 runs.
The 33-year-old will provide the Giants with good depth in their organization this season.

He was competing with Rule 5 pick Daniel Susac and prospect Jesús Rodríguez for the backup job behind Patrick Bailey. Haase hit .286 with a couple home runs while striking out 14 times in 32 plate appearances this spring. San Francisco stuck with Susac in the backup role. They optioned Rodríguez while granting Haase his release.”

Giants Right Now
Following their series with the Mets, the Giants will remain at home to host Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies (starting on April 6).
They are coming off a year where they missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.
