Day made the winning move with four laps remaining after diving three-wide through traffic to pass Justin Allgaier. He crossed the finish line 0.461 seconds ahead of the JR Motorsports driver. Allgaier led a race-high 71 laps but lost the lead late in the race. Sam Mayer finished third.
The race included several cautions, including a Lap 100 incident involving Rajah Caruth and Jesse Love. Day stayed clear of trouble and managed his tires during the final run.
After the race, Day explained how patience helped him reach victory lane.
“Man, I was hoping that’s how it would play out, I saved so hard there early in the last run once we put on tires and the yellow came out and I thought, awe, this is just going to be a caution fest and it was all for nothing, but oh man, it all just worked out good.”
Day also said the Dover victory felt more important because the team earned it through speed and strategy.
“This one feels really, really good. The Talladega one [win] was unexpected at a superspeedway, but we earned this one.”
