UPDATE: Atlanta Hawks Make Jonathan Kuminga Announcement Before Heat Game

On Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks will be in Florida to play the Miami Heat.

The Hawks are coming off a 124-102 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers (at home).

Jonathan Kuminga finished with 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and two steals while shooting 4/12 from the field and 0/6 from three-point range in 23 minutes of playing time.

Hawks Make Jonathan Kuminga Announcement

UPDATE: Jonathan Kuminga has been ruled out (h/t Underdog NBA).

For Sunday’s game, the Hawks have announced that Kuminga is being listed as questionable on the injury report.

Tommy Beer of Knicks Centric wrote: “The Hawks are listing nearly all their rotation regulars as questionable for tomorrow’s game vs. Miami:

Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, Jonathan Kuminga, CJ McCollum and Onyeka Okongwu are all questionable”

Kuminga was traded (via the Golden State Warriors) to the Hawks earlier this season.

He is averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 34.6% from three-point range in 16 games since the trade.

Hawks Right Now

The Hawks come into the night as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 46-35 record in 81 games.

They have won seven out of their last ten games (and are 22-18 on the road).

Last season, the Hawks lost in the play-in tournament.

Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks wrote (on April 10): “The Hawks are about to clinch the Southeast Division title and a top-six playoff spot with a win over the Cavs.

Atlanta will soon make its first playoff appearance since 2022-23 and will make the playoffs without needing the play-in for the first time since the 2020-21 season.”

The Hawks made major changes to their roster by moving on from Trae Young earlier this season.

They last made the Eastern Conference finals during the 2021 season.

Heat Right Now

The Heat are the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 42-39 record in 81 games.

They have won four out of their last ten games (and are 25-15 in 40 games at home in Miami).

Last season, the Heat lost in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.
