On Saturday, the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to pay a visit to the Denver Nuggets. As expected, the status of the star guard Anthony Edwards has come into question for the series opener.

The Nuggets’ first-round opponent listed Edwards as questionable for Game 1. His designation on the injury report is listed as “right knee injury maintenance.”

While Edwards’ status has come into question early, reporters close to the situation are suggesting plenty of positive signs, which seem to signal that Edwards has a strong shot at playing.

Edwards appeared to be healthy and in shape at practice this week. He said he is down to 218 pounds, which he said is the lightest he’s been since college.

Down the stretch of the regular season, Edwards was on and off the court for the Timberwolves. He started consistently missing action on March 17 against the Phoenix Suns.

After missing six games in a row, Edwards returned to the court for a March 30 matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

Since then, he has played in just two out of seven games to close out the year.

The Timberwolves finished the season with a 49-33 record. Edwards wrapped up his run with 61 games. The star guard averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. He shot 48.9% from the field and knocked down 39.9% from three.

Minnesota and Denver will tip off at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday. If Edwards doesn’t get the nod to play on Saturday, his next chance would come on Monday, April 20.
