UPDATE: Houston Rockets Make Alperen Sengun Announcement Before Pelicans Game

On Friday night, the Houston Rockets will host the New Orleans Pelicans in Texas.

The Rockets most recently lost to the Denver Nuggets by a score of 129-93.

Alperen Sengun finished the loss with ten points, two rebounds, three assists and three blocks while shooting 5/8 from the field and 0/1 from three-point range in 24 minutes of playing time.

UPDATE: Alperen Sengun has been ruled out (h/t Underdog NBA).

Before Friday’s game, the Rockets have announced that Sengun will be listed as questionable.

Underdog NBA wrote: “Alperen Sengun (back) listed questionable for Friday.”

Sengun is averaging 20.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 50.3% from the field and 27.9% from three-point range in 58 games.

He is in the middle of his fifth season (all with the Rockets).

Real App wrote (on February 25): “Alperen Sengun now has the 10th most 25/10/10 games by a center in NBA history. He’s 23 years old…”

The Rockets are the third seed in the Western Conference with a 40-25 record in 65 games.

They have won six out of their last ten (and are 22-8 at home).

ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote (on February 8): “Houston Rockets’ Alperen Sengun replaced Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the World team for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.”

Following the Pelicans, the Rockets will remain at home to host Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

They are coming off a year where they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs (in seven games).

Pelicans Ahead Of Rockets Clash

The Pelicans come into the night as the 12th seed in the Western Conference with a 22-45 record in 67 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak (and have won seven out of their last ten).

Following the Rockets, the Pelicans will play their next game on Monday night when they host Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks in New Orleans.
