Memphis Grizzlies superstar guard Ja Morant suffered a scary fall while attempting a dunk during his “Make Them Watch” tour in China.

Thankfully, the athletic guard got back up on his feet and finished the dunk.

Some analysts and fans suggested that the Grizzlies must have been highly concerned after watching the footage, given that the oft-injured Morant played only 50 games in the 2024-25 season, a year after missing 72 games due to injury and suspension. Overall, the All-Star has missed a total of 125 games over the last three seasons.

Fans Concerned for Ja Morant

Many fans reacted with grave concern for Morant after watching the clip.

“Man, that could have been a torn ACL,” SM Highlights wrote on X.

“Is it the shoes?” one fan wondered, reacting to Morant’s scary fall.

“Shut him down wtf,” said one concerned Grizzlies fan, urging the franchise to put an end to Morant’s exhibition tour in China.

It’s worth noting that Morant’s father, Tee Morant, was the human prop whom his son attempted to jump over to pull off the dunk. As Ja slipped, so did his father.

“But no one’s asking if that man with the red bonnet is ok?!” wondered JBond.

Will Grizzlies Trade Morant?

One of the underrated storylines ahead of the 2025-26 season is whether the Grizzlies will part with Morant, who has become increasingly injury-prone in recent years.

While Morant has three years left on his contract, he is eligible for an extension, which the franchise is reportedly hesitant to offer.

After the Grizzlies were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA playoffs, The Ringer’s Michael Pina questioned if Morant’s time was over in Memphis.

“Morant’s trade value is a mystery box,” wrote Pina. “At his best, he’s a spellbinding phenom who can do things literally no one else can. His on-court intellect is elite. His bounce, verve, and spontaneity make guarding him in space next to impossible. But it’s so, so hard to win four playoff series with a defensive weak link who needs the ball in his hands.”

While citing many of Morant’s off-court controversies, Pina argued that a championship contender may be unwilling to make a move for him.

“How many teams are willing to absorb that, on a contract that fills about 25 percent of its cap space, knowing some avoidable controversy is right around the corner?” he asked. “And how many of those teams actually have stuff the Grizzlies would want? Would any clubs in a similar predicament be willing to swap headaches?”

Morant averaged 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the 2024-25 season, tallying his fewest points since his second season, and fewest dimes since his third year in the league. Many analysts believe Morant’s game will likely plateau once he enters his 30s, given his excessive reliance on his athleticism. Some have also questioned his lack of perimeter shooting as a reason for his lack of upside. Morant is a career 31.6% shooter from three-point range.
