Anthony Edwards has missed the last five games for the Minnesota Timberwolves with a knee injury and will miss their next contest against the Detroit Pistons.
Edwards, officially dealing with right knee inflammation, was sidelined ten days ago and still has no timeline for an injury return.
Despite the previous injury update pointing to hopeful news for the Timberwolves, the latest update on Edwards’ health signals he will stay on the injury report and miss at least the team’s next game.

While Minnesota has yet to release its injury report for Friday, March 27, Edwards is expected to stay sidelined for the time being, according to team insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.
In a post on X, Krawczynski reported that Timberwolves’ head coach Chris Finch said Edwards is still only participating in individual workouts and will likely not be available for the team’s primetime game on Saturday against the Pistons.
“Chris Finch says Anthony Edwards still just doing individual stuff right now,” he wrote. “Will get an official injury report later but that would seem to make tomorrow unlikely.”
According to both Krawczynski and Shams Charania of ESPN, there was initial hope that Edwards had the chance to return over the weekend.
“I’m told that the Timberwolves will be evaluating Anthony Edwards day to day moving forward, so he could return as soon as Saturday’s game against the Pistons at home or Monday in Dallas,” Charania said on NBA Countdown earlier in the week.
But now, Edwards making an injury return against Detroit can be all but ruled out. His next chance to come back would be on Monday against the Mavericks, which would line up with the two-week timeline initially reported on his injury.
Regardless, Krawczynski had first said that Edwards’ injury isn’t expected to be too serious, and the fact that he was ruled out for a period despite being a ‘fast healer’ was likely just a precautionary measure to ensure he’s healthy for another postseason run.

For now, the latest Edwards injury update points to him missing the key game against the Eastern Conference’s top seeded Pistons.
Along with him, Ayo Dosunmu was the other name listed on the team’s injury report.
The trade deadline acquisition was originally listed as questionable with a calf injury for the Timberwolves’ overtime thriller against the Houston Rockets before being ruled out and missing the game.
Krawczynski described Dosunmu’s calf injury as ‘concerning‘ and at this point, and while previously there was no news about his status, things could be trending in the right direction for the guard.
Additionally, Jaden McDaniels left Minnesota’s win against Houston with cramps. While Krawczynski reported the wing said he won’t miss the contest against Detroit, he has now officially been ruled out for that game.
“Jaden McDaniels is out tomorrow against Detroit with right knee soreness,” he wrote.
Edwards and McDaniels have been ruled out against the Pistons on Saturday, while Dosunmu remains questionbale.
The Timberwolves are currently 45-28 and fifth in the West, currently in a tight race for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs with the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, and Rockets.
