Anthony Edwards has established himself as one of the best ten players in the NBA.
The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is in the middle of his sixth season as a pro.
At 24, Edwards is averaging 29.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 49.3% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range in 49 games.

On Thursday, the Timberwolves shared a quote from NBA legend Carmelo Anthony (via their official X account).
Anthony: “In my opinion, he’s the best player in the NBA.”

Anthony is one of the best 75 players of all time, so that is a very strong quote about Edwards coming from someone of that stature.
Edwards was the first pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after one year of college basketball at Georgia.
Over 430 career games, the 24-year-old is averaging 24.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 45.2% from the field and 36.9% from three-point range.
The NBA wrote before Thursday’s game against the Clippers: “INTUIT ENCORE: Anthony Edwards returns to Intuit Dome tonight – less than two weeks after earning Kia All-Star MVP honors there – as the Minnesota Timberwolves visit the LA Clippers at 10pm/et on Prime. Edwards is averaging an NBA-high 30.3 points per game this month, including 34.0 in three games since the All-Star break. For the season, he is posting career highs of 29.6 points, 49.3% shooting from the field and 40.0% shooting from three-point range.”
The Timberwolves are in the middle of another strong year where they are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a 36-23 record in 59 games.
They have won six out of their last ten games.
On Thursday night, the Timberwolves will play the LA Clippers (and then they will visit the Denver Nuggets on Sunday in Colorado).

The Timberwolves were one of the worst franchises in the NBA before Edwards got to Minnesota.
They have made the NBA playoffs in each of the previous four years (and are coming off back-to-back trips to the Western Conference finals).
As for Anthony, he spent 19 seasons playing for the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers.
The Hall of Fame forward had career averages of 22.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 44.7% from the field in 1,260 games.
