Anne Hathaway is not just a celebrity sitting courtside, she is one of the most passionate Knicks fans in New York. The Oscar-winning actress opened up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon about her deep love for the Knicks and especially her favorite player, OG Anunoby. And right on cue, he showed up and delivered in a massive way.

Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon, Hathaway revealed she almost walked onto the show wearing an OG Anunoby jersey. She described herself as a “motherly fan,” someone who is calm, loving, and wants the players to feel like they can do no wrong.

“I considered wearing an OG jersey out here today…When I’m at the game…I’m trying to be a gentle loving motherly fan…He was coming at me, time slowed down,” Anne Hathaway said.

Hathaway‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ also brought up the widely talked-about event of last season when OG Anunoby ran to her courtside seats and accidentally spilled popcorn on her and her son.

She confessed that she was so engrossed in the ball that she simply didn’t notice Anunoby coming. Besides, she mentioned that “time slowed down.”

The clip from Twitter gained rapid traction during the Knicks’ April 30, 2026, playoff Game 6 against the Hawks, where Anunoby scored 29 points in a dominant 140-89 series-clinching win.

Anunoby‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ didn’t just partially respond to Hathaway’s statements; he practically dominated the entire match. He’s scored 29 points and was extremely efficient on the field as he went 11-of-14, rebounded 7 times, made 4 steals, and 1 block in addition to the fact that he made zero turnovers

It was as if a fire had been lit in his belly as he came out in the opening period. He was not only 4-of-4 from the field, but he also racked up 10 points before Atlanta was able to make their mark. His comprehensive control over the game, both offensively and defensively, greatly contributed to the Knicks’ astounding 47-point halftime lead, which is a playoff record.

The Knicks closed out the Hawks 140-89, one of the largest margin-of-victory wins in playoff history. New York, who actually fell behind in the series 2-1, then rattled off three straight wins to take the series 4-2 and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

As for what comes next, the Knicks are awaiting the winner of the Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers first-round series. That matchup is shaping up to be a far tougher test than the Hawks, but after a performance like Game 6, New York heads into the second round as confident as ever.
