The NBA officially announced that Hart finished fifth in the 2025-26 Kia NBA Hustle Award rankings, behind winner Moussa Diabaté (Charlotte Hornets), Dyson Daniels (Atlanta Hawks), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors), and Cedric Coward (Memphis Grizzlies).
The Hustle Award is not a recipient of voting from media or players. Instead, it is solely decided by a statistical formula that quantifies the effort plays deflections, charges taken, loose balls recovered, and contested possessions.
Hart making it into the top five players of the entire NBA in this category statistically confirms what Knicks fans have long known about him. He is not only a great all-around guard in the league but also this recognition gives a number to it.

Hart exited Game 5 with roughly five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, walking straight to the locker room and never returning to the bench. Per SNY’s Ian Begley, Hart was listed as questionable for Game 6 with a lower back contusion.
This is not a new issue. Earlier this season, Hart missed three weeks due to a lower back problem. Coach Mike Brown offered zero updates immediately after Game 5, which only adds to the concern.
If Hart cannot go, Miles McBride is the most likely replacement, but a clear step down in playmaking, physicality, and energy.
Across the five recent playoff matches in this series, Hart’s average points are about 9, rebounds 10, and assists 4.8 – in fact, these stats still don’t fully show his real influence on the game.
Even more, the Knicks’ record was only 9-7 in the games during the regular season when he was out. Coach Brown clearly stated, “Having Josh there helps a ton.”
Being among the top five for the Hustle Award goes to show that his worth is not just measured by stats and as of next game, the Knicks will be counting on him to deliver once more in Atlanta.
