Timothée Chalamet is no stranger to the bright lights of Madison Square Garden but this time, the New York Knicks aren’t just happy to have him in the crowd.
After a viral video and a playful social media exchange, New York’s most famous Hollywood superfan may have sarcastically just gotten the most unconventional offer in NBA history.
The Knicks Slide Into Chalamet’s DMs
It started with a simple Instagram post. Chalamet uploaded some photos and videos captioned “summer26,” and the very first clip showed something unexpected: the Oscar-winning actor dribbling at Madison Square Garden, stepping back, and draining a clean three-pointer.
The Knicks replied directly in the comments:
“Check your DMs — we just sent you a 10-day.” Even Ant-Man himself, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, jumped into the comments with “Yea killa.”

If the viral video wasn’t enough to show his loyalty, his May 4th choice definitely revealed it. While his girlfriend Kylie Jenner was making her solo appearance on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet, Chalamet was courtside at MSG witnessing the Knicks win over the Philadelphia 76ers 137–98 in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.
This was not a random decision; he did the very same thing in 2025, forgoing the Met Gala to watch the Knicks play against the Boston Celtics.
Post Game 1, Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns is said to have murmured to him just by his side at the court, causing Chalamet to be visibly overjoyed. The Garden has turned into his second dwelling, and at this stage, the New York fans have completely accepted him as one of theirs.

Game 2 will be held at Madison Square Garden against the 76ers on the same day as the Knicks lead the series 1-0, Wednesday, May 6, at 7 PM ET on ESPN. Afterward, the series is taking a break on a new location with Game 3 on Friday, May 8 (Prime Video) that is set to be in Philadelphia, while Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday, May 10.
As the Knicks have the liberty of playing at home and after having an amazing regular season of 53–29, they seem very capable of moving forward.
Whether Chalamet ends up signing that 10-day or not, one thing is crystal clear: his heart belongs to New York. And with Brunson and KAT clicking on all cylinders, the Garden is the best show in town right now.
