Knicks star OG Anunoby is listed as day to day amid his recent injury.

The New York Knicks have been cautious as OG Anunoby recovers from a hamstring injury. Anunoby has been sidelined during the last two games for the Knicks putting in question his status for future games.

The star will not play in Game 4, and there is plenty of intrigue on Anunoby’s status for the Knicks’ next game. Depending on the outcome of Game 4, Anunoby could have an extended time to rest.

If the Knicks are able to hold on to win Game 4, New York will get plenty of time to recover as the Eastern Conference Finals is not projected to start until May 19. A Philadelphia 76ers‘ win would mean there is a Game 5 prompting more speculation on Anunoby’s immediate status.

The New York Post reported that Anunoby sustained a “minor strain” to his hamstring during Game 2. Despite Anunoby’s absence, the Knicks star’s injury has been described as minor.

“Not New York’s two-way maestro who also has a long history of injuries and, only two years ago, suffered a hamstring strain that derailed a playoff run,” New York Post’s Stefan Body wrote in a May 7, 2026, story titled, “Knicks’ OG Anunoby injury reality is a pleasant surprise — but they should still make smart Game 3 call.”

“Except, this time, the Knicks dodged a bullet. Anunoby, per league sources, suffered only a minor strain and is considered day to day. He’s officially listed as questionable for Friday night’s Game 3 against the Sixers, and the expectation, according to sources, is that the recovery will be quick. I understand the skepticism around these updates.”

Here’s what you need to know about Anunoby’s injury news.

OG Anunoby’s Injury: When Will Knicks Star Return to Play Again?

The Knicks have not revealed an exact return timeline for Anunoby. Instead, Knicks head coach Mike Brown labeled Anunoby as “day to day” with the hamstring injury.

Brown shot down the notion that the Knicks are being more cautious with Anunoby given the team has a 3-0 lead heading into Game 4.

“Not for me,” Brown noted, per New York Post. “It’s all medical related and it starts with [the training staff], the doctors and OG.

“All I want them to do is tell me when he can play.”

Will OG Anunoby Play in the Eastern Conference Finals?

The Knicks may not have revealed a specific timeline for Anunoby, but there is no signs that this is a serious injury. Assuming the Knicks are able to win Game 4, Anunoby is estimated to get nearly one week of additional rest before the Eastern Conference Finals.

There has not been an official report on Anunoby’s status for the next round, but it would be a surprise if the star was not ready to play in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals if the Knicks sweep the Sixers. This is assuming Anunoby does not sustain a setback to the injury in the coming days.

For now, it appears that the Knicks will be waiting on the Cleveland Cavaliers or Detroit Pistons to win the other Eastern Conference series.
