Before the Phoenix Suns entered a Saturday night matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 22, an update regarding Dillon Brooks surfaced.
During a routine press conference, Suns head coach Jordan Ott addressed some of the Suns’ key injuries. Dillon Brooks is clearly a headliner on their injury report.
The standout sharpshooter fractured his left hand back in February.
Brooks doesn’t seem to have a targeted date for his return just yet.
Phoenix Suns Star Gets Injury Update Before Bucks Loss
via Duane Rankin, AZ Central: Suns coach Jordan Ott on Dillon Brooks (fractured left hand): “Looks like it’s still progressing. What I’ve learned in the medical sense, is the bone, it does take a little bit more longer to see progress there, but everything seems to be moving in the right direction. He’s on the court. Continuing his progress day-to-day.”
Brooks last played for the Suns on February 21.
During a matchup against the Orlando Magic, Brooks missed most of the overtime thriller. He left the game with just seven minutes played. When he went back to the locker room, Brooks had shot just 2-7 from the field to score five points.
The Suns were hit with an unfortunate update a few days later. Brooks was diagnosed with a fractured left hand.
At the time, Brooks was put on a 4-to-6-week timeline before his next evaluation. The four-week mark is coming up early next week. The six-week mark will be around the second week of April.
How The Suns Are Performing Without Dillon Brooks
The Suns needed a few games to adjust to playing without their standout veteran in Brooks. They lost their first two games without him, before winning the two that followed.
From March 6, the Suns put together an impressive four-game winning streak. However, they have hit a rough patch three games into their road trip.
Going into Saturday’s action against the Milwaukee Bucks, the Suns were on a four-game losing streak. Unfortunately, they couldn’t overcome the Bucks. The Suns were defeated 108-105.
With five losses in a row, the Suns fall to 39-32 on the season. They remain in seventh place.
Brooks is going to be off the court for more games, and it’s clear the Suns will miss him.
This year, Brooks has appeared in 50 games for Phoenix. Before going down, he averaged 20.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. Brooks shot 44.0% from the field and knocked down 34.3% from beyond the arc.
Brooks was acquired from the Houston Rockets. He spent two seasons with the Rockets after seeing the court with the Memphis Grizzlies for his first six NBA seasons.
