San Antonio Spurs Make Victor Wembanyama Announcement Before Clippers Game

On Thursday night, the San Antonio Spurs will be in Los Angeles to play the Clippers.

The Spurs are coming off a 127-113 victory over the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center.

Victor Wembanyama went off for 41 points, 18 rebounds, three assists and three blocks while shooting 16/22 from the field and 2/6 from three-point range in 29 minutes of playing time.

For Thursday’s game, the Spurs announced that Wembanyama has been ruled out.

Justin Russo wrote: “Clippers will not be playing against Victor Wembanyama tonight as he is OUT for the Spurs due to right ankle injury management. San Antonio is on the second night of a back-to-back.”

Wembanyama is in the middle of his third NBA season.

The All-Star center has established himself as one of the best six players in the NBA.

Right now, Wembanyama is averaging 24.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.1 blocks per contest while shooting 50.9% from the field and 35.0% from three-point range in 61 games.

Underdog wrote after the Spurs beat the Warriors: “- First Spurs player since George Gervin (1984) to have consecutive 40-point games. – Youngest player in NBA history with back-to-back 40+ point & 10+ rebound games.”

Spurs Ahead Of Clippers Battle

The Spurs last made the NBA playoffs in 2019.

That said, they have been one of the best teams in the NBA this year with a 58-18 record in 76 games, which has them as the second seed in the Western Conference.

In addition, the Spurs are in the middle of a ten-game winning streak (and 28-11 on the road).

Following the Clippers, they will visit Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Saturday afternoon.

Clippers Before Spurs Come To LA

The Clippers are the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 39-37 record in 76 games.

They have won five out of their last ten games (and are 21-16 at home).

Following the Spurs, the Clippers will play their next game on Sunday when they visit DeMar DeRozan and the Kings in Sacramento.

Last season, they lost to the Nuggets in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
