The Baltimore Ravens knew what they were doing when they decided to draft Vega Ioane out of Penn State University.
The Ravens came into the draft prepared to address their offensive line and they did just that by drafting Ioane. Ioane allowed zero sacks during his collegiate 2025 season. Ioane is already receiving high praise from league sources due to his ability to perform.
ESPN’s Rich Eisen firmly believes Vega Ioane can be a finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
“He’s going to be so good,” Eisen said on “The Rich Eisen Show. “Finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year at right guard. That’s how good he is.”
Vega Ioane Prepared to Potentially Play Multiple Positions
Ioane is predominantly a left guard, but he is getting reps at right guard during rookie minicamp.
“Vega Ioane looks every bit the part of a starting NFL guard, but the Ravens’ rookie first-round pick is making an adjustment as his career starts.” Ryan Mink wrote in a Baltimore Ravens article. “After predominantly playing left guard in college at Penn State, Ioane got work at right guard during rookie minicamp.”
It’s clear the Baltimore Ravens needed help on the interior of their offensive line. Ioane could be a future great for years to come in Baltimore. Adapting to a new position can challenging for a player, but if anybody can do it, it’s Vega Ioane.
The Ravens are long way out from announcing their starting offensive line, but it would be surprising if Vega Ioane is not in the lineup. For now, Ioane is trying to adapt to his new position.
“It’s definitely a little bit of work to get used to again, but there isn’t much to it,” Ioane said in a Baltimore Ravens article.
An offensive lineman has never won Offensive Rookie of the Year since the award was created in 1967.
Baltimore Ravens Rise in Power Rankings Due to Offseason Moves
According to PFF, the Baltimore Ravens offensive line ranked 17th in the NFL. This was at the fault of primarily Daniel Faalele.
Faalele, now a member of the New York Giants, allowed 30 pressures, four sacks, and three quarterback hits in 2025. With Vega Ioane serving as his replacement, he will be breath of fresh air for the Baltimore Ravens for years to come.
The Baltimore Ravens now rank number 10 in ESPN’s NFL Power Rankings. They previously ranked number 14 in the rankings.
This all started when the Ravens went all in on former All-Pro Edge rusher Trey Hendrickson. The organization signed Hendrickson to a four-year $112 million deal in free agency.
The Ravens ranked 24th in total defense during the 2025 season. Baltimore was the 10th ranked defense against the run. They were the 30th ranked defense against the pass.
The pressure was on the Ravens to once again have a good draft to buffer a lot positions. The Baltimore Ravens continue to have talented rosters year after year, but can the Baltimore franchise finally get over the hump and get to the Super Bowl?
