Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent has never shied away from sharing his true feelings with the media, and that includes how he feels about QB1 Caleb Williams.

The two have grown close ever since Williams arrived in Chicago, and Bagent believes that the Bears have a shot at winning the Super Bowl this year.

“A consistent thought I’ve had is that everybody looks great and that…we’re gonna win the Super Bowl in 2026,” Bagent said on CHGO. “So that’s the kind of feeling that I have going on.”

More than just being Super Bowl hopefuls, it’s dependent on Williams’ improvement, not just on the field, but off the field as well. Something that, according to Bagent, is noticeable this offseason.

Speaking on REKAP with David Kaplan, Tyson Bagent noted that the most impressed he’s been with Caleb Williams has been this past month.

“The most impressed I’ve been with him is actually the month that we’ve been back in Chicago during OTAs, phase one and phase two. He seems to be just more and more comfortable as the years go on. I see him being a team leader in the building, I see him working hard and really trying to do things the right way…the sky is the limit for what our offense can be.”

People can bring up how Williams paints his nails or drinks matcha before games, but that stuff doesn’t matter. What matters is the work Williams puts in off the field and his production on the field. It’s great to hear Bagent say Williams is working hard to do things the right way, and the hope is that he continues to elevate his game.

Bagent Comments on Current Situation with Bears

There was a lot of talk around the league about Bagent being a potential trade candidate, with teams like the Arizona Cardinals showing interest, but head coach Ben Johnson made sure to express how much he loves having Bagent on the team.

“I love Tyson. That’s one that kind of pulls at your heartstrings a little bit because he’s someone you care about so deeply, and he’s a hell of a football player…at some point you want to see him have a chance to do it himself.”

Bagent, although having limited exposure as a starting quarterback, is looking at his situation with nothing but optimism, telling Kaplan that he’s “super lucky” to be in the position that he’s in with the Bears.

“I think I’m super lucky. Not everybody gets to spend four years in one location. So I think naturally just with the time spent I’ve been able to, you know, spread my wings a little bit. Not just appreciating the city, but also the suburbs that surround it.”

Bears fans don’t get to fully appreciate having Bagent as a reliable QB2 because Williams has yet to miss a game, but seriously, having a good backup quarterback is extremely valuable in the NFL.

The hope is that Williams stays healthy, but if not, the Bears have confidence that Bagent can come in and help the offense continue to produce at a high level.
