The Kansas City Chiefs‘ 2025 campaign was a failure. After advancing to the AFC Championship Game in each of Patrick Mahomes’ first seven seasons as their starting quarterback, the Chiefs missed the playoffs entirely this year. Early in the offseason, the team reunited with their old offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy. Could a reunion with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill be in the cards, too?
Ever since the Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins in 2022, their offense has struggled to replace him. While Hill has continually been involved in controversial incidents both on and off the field, he’s remained one of the most productive wide receivers in the league. With Bieniemy officially getting hired by Kansas City, Hill teased a potential return to the Chiefs with a short message on social media.
Tyreek Hill Issues Five-Word Reaction to Chiefs’ Eric Bieniemy Move
So far, Mahomes has enjoyed his best seasons under center while working with Bieniemy as his offensive coordinator and Hill as his top wide receiver. Even in the wake of both Bieniemy and Hill’s departures, Kansas City kept on winning, but the wheels finally fell off in 2025, forcing the team to head back to the drawing board.
Bieniemy’s return alone won’t fix the Chiefs’ offense. While playmakers like Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy appear to be up-and-coming stars, the rest of the unit needs some help. The offensive line turned in a rough year in 2025, and the rushing attack, led by Karrem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco, was virtually nonexistent.
Having a big-play threat like Hill, who can stretch opposing defenses and open things up for the rest of the team, could be a difference-maker for K.C. With Miami appearing likely to undergo a rebuild this offseason, Hill sounded open to potentially following Bieniemy’s suit and reuniting with the Chiefs over the offseason.
“EB to the chiefs hm,” Hill simply said in a post on X when reacting to the news.
Should the Chiefs Reunite with Tyreek Hill?

There are a lot of layers to peel back when considering a potential move for Hill by the Chiefs. When he’s healthy, he’s remained incredibly productive for Miami, but Hill suffered a serious season-ending injury back in Week 4 that teams will surely be wary of if the Dolphins try to move on from him. Hill has shown few signs of decline recently, but entering his age-32 season, it’s fair to wonder if this injury will have an impact on him moving forward.
Hill is under contract for one more season with the Dolphins, but his massive $52 million cap hit makes it likely the team will either trade or release him. If Hill gets cut, that would seemingly increase the likelihood of a reunion happening between him and the Chiefs. That needs to happen first, of course, but there’s a path to Hill returning to Kansas City this offseason, and given the state of its offense, it would have to be a move that the front office would consider making.
