Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport ranked Brian Flores and the Minnesota Vikings defense at No. 8 on his defensive power rankings entering 2026.

The Minnesota Vikings may be getting more linebacker depth in short order. Free agent Kyle Van Noy is on the team’s radar, and a visit is expected to take place. This was reported by KTSP’s Darren Wolfson on Tuesday morning.

Van Noy last played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2025, recording two sacks and 12 combined tackles in addition to an interception in 15 games. He had been with the Baltimore Ravens from 2023-2025. Prior to his time with the Ravens, he spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions. He is perhaps best known for his time with the Patriots.

Now, as Wolfson notes, the linebacker is on the Vikings’ radar.

Free agent Kyle Van Noy is very much on the #Vikings radar. A visit is expected to take place. Personally, seeing how entertaining he is on this app, (prayers) to happening!

Move For Vikings Would Be Reunion

This move would make sense for the organization for a lot of reasons. For one, the linebacker has familiarity with defensive coordinator Brian Flores. He has played with the coach, as the latter served multiple roles in the Patriots organization. Van Noy played under Flores as the linebackers coach in 2016 and 2017. He recorded 11 combined tackles in 2016 before recording 58 tackles in 2017.

Flores became the de facto defensive coordinator for the Patriots in 2018. Van Noy had another strong season. The playmaker played in 16 games and recorded 57 combined tackles, 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and two passes defended. He was able to really find a role and become the stout linebacker that he would be throughout the course of his career.

The two would meet each other at another stop in 2020. Flores was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, and Van Noy was brought in to be a part of the linebacker room. The linebacker played 14 games that year and recorded 46 combined tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and six passes defended. The sacks, forced fumbles, and passes defended were all career -highs. It was clear that the two worked well with each other.

It appears that Flores wants to find that magic once again. This could be a very low-risk, high-reward signing. There is little doubt that Flores has been able to get the most out of the linebacker. As it stands right now, the Vikings could definitely use the depth.

Vikings Need Linebacker Help In Majoe

The Vikings need linebacker depth and pass rush help in a major way. Edge rusher Tyler Baty had a season-ending ACL tear in the preseason finale against the Denver Broncos. This severely depleted the Vikings’ depth at the position, and Van Noy could immediately come in and stop the bleeding. Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel serve as valuable starters, but beyond that there is a ton of unproven depth. This is where Van Noy can step in

On top of just what he can provide on a depth chart or statistics sheet, he is a proven winner. Both he and Flores provided contributions to two Super Bowl-winning teams together, as they were able to play major roles in the Patriots dynasty of the late 2010s. Having that veteran experience in the locker room will be important, especially if the Vikings can make a playoff push this season.

Van Noy to the Vikings makes sense in more ways than one, and hopefully a deal can get done.
