The Minnesota Vikings have been one of the quieter teams in the NFL this offseason, thanks to the fact that the front office is dealing with a salary cap crunch. Still, the Vikings have done good work to upgrade their roster, and if they can get solid production from the quarterback position, there’s reason to believe they could find their way back to the playoffs in 2026.
While quarterback is the biggest question mark on Minnesota’s roster currently, it could also use some help along its defensive line after trading Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2026 NFL Draft. The good news for the Vikings is that there is another cost-effective option on the market in Kayvon Thibodeaux of the New York Giants. With that in mind, let’s take a look at a trade pitch that would see Minnesota acquire Thibodeaux from New York.
Vikings’ Kayvon Thibodeaux Trade Pitch
Vikings receive: DE Kayvon Thibodeaux
Giants receive: 2027 third-round pick
The Giants selected Thibodeaux with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and while he’s been solid so far in his career, he’s failed to hit the sort of expectations the team had for him. In 2025, Thibodeaux suited up for just 10 games, racking up 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups during his time on the field. Simply put, that’s not anything to write home about.
New York already could have afforded to trade Thibodeaux this offseason, and that was before it selected linebacker Arvell Reese with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Right now, the Giants have Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Reese ahead of Thibodeaux on the depth chart, which is already more than enough of a reason to trade him. Beyond that, though, is the fact that Thibodeaux is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
With Greenard gone, the Vikings could use some more help in the pass rush department, which is precisely where Thibodeaux comes into play. Sure, he doesn’t have a great track record to this point, but in a bigger role, he could thrive, and for the price of a third-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, this could be a steal if Thibodeaux reaches his full potential.
Would the Vikings and Giants Be Interested in this Kayvon Thibodeaux Trade Pitch?

GettyLinebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux has recorded 23.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and three fumble returns in 53 games played with the New York Giants.
The Giants have been hesitant to trade Thibodeaux this offseason, but now that Reese is in town, it seems like only a matter of time until he gets dealt. Considering the lack of leverage New York’s front office currently has, it would probably be overjoyed to land a third-round pick in exchange for the inconsistent defensive lineman.
Whether or not the Vikings would do this deal is the real question. Yes, they could use help along their defensive line now that Greenard is gone, but giving up a third-rounder for Thibodeaux is a steep price to pay. Again, the Giants have a limited amount of leverage, and Thibodeaux needs a new contract, whether it be now or after the season. Minnesota probably doesn’t have to give up this much for Thibodeaux, which is why it would ultimately say not this trade pitch.
