Vikings' rookie wide receiver Tai Felton could see more snaps come his way in the wake of Adam Thielen's release

Tai Felton was selected by the Vikings in the 2025 NFL Draft with their lone Day 2 selection of the event. The pick came at 102, which was also the final selection of the 3rd round.

The former Maryland receiver saw limited playing time in his rookie season. He was dressed for all 17 games of the year, although he started zero. The August 2025 acquisition of Vikings legend Adam Thielen pushed Felton even further down the depth chart.

Felton was pretty much cemented as WR5, behind the Vikings’ top 4 of Jefferson, Addison, Nailor, and Thielen. In his appearances, Felton totaled only 3 receptions for 25 yards, though 2 of the catches went for first downs. His 3 receptions came on just 3 targets.

The Vikings added Jauan Jennings this offseason, making Felton’s best outcome being as the team’s WR4. However, he may have taken the signing personally. He’s having a great training camp.

Vikings WR Tai Felton Could Be Leading ‘Mr. Mankato’ Race

Tyler Forness of AtoZ Sports shared his two cents on Felton’s training camp so far.

The Minnesota Vikings might have an emerging star on their hands, and it was one nobody expected. Second-year wide receiver Tai Felton has been one of the standout players through the first week of training camp, launching himself into the Mr. Mankato conversation…

…The fact that Felton has special teams acumen on top of his offensive development is a bonus. When we’re talking about Mr. Mankato, Felton may be the No. 1 candidate. That sounds crazy, but it shouldn’t feel crazy. Felton is a dude, and he keeps showing it.”

The news about Felton is very exciting, as many had already given up on him. Still, the Vikings are giving him plenty of opportunity in camp. Alongside CB Charles Demmings, Felton is one of the big stories of Vikings training camp.

Per reports out of Vikings training camp, Charles Demmings is having a stellar showing.

During Wednesday’s camp, Alec Lewis shared a very exciting tidbit about a good rep from Demmings.

Vikings rookie CB Chuck Demmings just deflected a pass from Justin Jefferson and went nuts. The guy has been awesome.”

Will Ragatz said something similar on Tuesday, singing the praises of Charles Demmings.

Rookie CB Chuck Demmings is maybe the best story of training camp thus far. He just keeps making plays, with two more PBUs so far today. And he isn’t shy about celebrating afterwards. Vikings might’ve found something in the fifth round.”

And potentially the most exciting snippet so far: Charles Demmings locked up Justin Jefferson in the end zone a few days ago. After the rep, Jefferson got up looking for a flag. This implies physical play from Demmings, which should be no shock to draft evaluators who were in on him early.

Tyler Forness of AtoZ Sports also sang the praises of Mr. Demmings

Charles Demmings is a dude, and I’m close to being irresponsible about him. Had two really good reps against Justin Jefferson today, including a PBU on a fade stop in the red zone.

Vikings fans should be very excited about Charles Demmings. The Vikings may have found a gem.
