The Philadelphia Eagles are now just like every team in the NFL, as they will be chasing the league’s new Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks, in 2026. After a disappointing 2025 campaign, the Eagles have begun making some changes this offseason, with perhaps their most important move seeing them hire Sean Mannion to be their new offensive coordinator.
While swapping out Mannin for outgoing offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is important, it’s not the only change to the coaching staff Philly has made early this offseason. In the wake of Super Bowl LX, the Eagles have made another important move, as they have brought one of Mannion’s old friends, Chris Kuper, to town to fill an important role on the offensive side of the ball.
Eagles Hire Chris Kuper to Be New Offensive Line Coach
The story of the Eagles’ 2025 season revolved around their offensive struggles. After taking the league by storm in 2024 on their way to a win in Super Bowl LIX, Philly just couldn’t generate any sort of consistency on this side of the ball last season. As a result, Patullo, who was in his first year as the team’s offensive coordinator, was relieved of his duties, with Mannion eventually being tabbed as his replacement.
Mannion is going to have his work cut out for him when it comes to getting Philadelphia’s offense back on track. As a result, it’s going to be important for him to have assistant coaches working with him on the offensive side of the ball that he can trust. That’s where Kuper comes into play, as the pair worked together with the Minnesota Vikings in 2023 when Kuper was the team’s offensive line coach, and Mannion was their backup quarterback.
Prior to his coaching career, Kuper spent eight years in the NFL as an offensive lineman with the Denver Broncos. He’s since turned himself into a highly-touted offensive line coach, and after spending the past four years filling that role with the Vikings, Kuper will make the jump to the Eagles, where he will work in the position as a part of Mannion’s offensive staff.
“The Eagles are hiring Chris Kuper as their offensive line coach, sources tell The Insiders,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X. “Kuper spent the past four seasons in the same role in Minnesota, where he crossed paths with new Eagles OC Sean Mannion. Now, they’re teaming up in Philly.”
Why Chris Kuper’s Hiring is So Important for the Eagles

While the passing game had a myriad of issues in 2025, the biggest problem for this team was its inconsistent rushing attack. In 2024, Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts took the league by storm, but they never generated the same momentum last season. That was due in large part to the play of the offensive line, as the blocking schemes for the team’s run plays often made life too difficult for Barkley or whoever else had the ball in their hands.
Kuper will be tasked with making sure that not only can Philly’s offensive line create rushing lanes on the ground, but that Hurts also has time to throw the ball when he drops back to pass. Considering what we saw from this group, Kuper has a lot of work to do, but if he can help the o-line find its form, the Eagles will immediately reemerge as a Super Bowl contender when they return to action.
