The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t come away with the Week 2 win over the New England Patriots in the NFL Preseason, but there are a lot of positives to take from the game. The 25-year-old defensive tackle Ty Robinson surely has the Eagles feeling good after a strong week.
According to Bleacher Report’s rundown of winners and losers of Week 2, Robinson represented the Eagles well on the list. His winning week comes after his defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, dropped a controversial comment regarding Robinson’s career with the Eagles so far.

“He came to life. He’s been on life support since he’s been here, but he came to life,” Fangio told reporters last week, as the Eagles prepared for a practice against the Patriots.
While Fangio’s known to tell it like it is, many Eagles fans felt that being so forward about the young defensive tackle was too much and could backfire. Fortunately, Robinson took it all in stride.
I’ll take that as a compliment. He’s not wrong,” Robinson told reporters after Saturday’s action.
“Last year, just had to find myself. I was on scout team. Just understanding how the NFL worked. We have a pretty good offensive line, so getting to work against those guys, just get better, it’s obviously showing that it’s helped.”
As for BR’s assessment, they stated the obvious: “Ty Robinson has been one of the Philadelphia Eagles’ top defensive standouts in the preseason. In two outings, he’s recorded six tackles (all solo) and three sacks. The Eagles know how to draft and develop interior defensive linemen,” Moe Moton wrote.
Ty Robinson’s NFL Journey So Far

Robinson played at Nebraska from 2019 to 2024. During his final season, Robinson appeared in 13 games. He produced 37 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, and 7.0 sacks.
The Eagles selected Robinson in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Having a stacked interior defensive line already, Robinson was overshadowed, for better or for worse.
Many Eagles fans might’ve seen the situation as a benefit, as beating out the Eagles’ current set of defensive tackles would’ve been a tall task. Robinson had a rookie season that wasn’t filled with instant pressure, as he could work and learn from some of the best.
However, Fangio clearly had a different outlook. The defensive coordinator felt Robinson was falling through the cracks. With a strong training camp, backed by two notable performances in the preseason, Robinson is clearly giving the Eagles the look of a solid young veteran depth piece.
