The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are both Super Bowl bound, and the two longstanding franchises will take each other on in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Now, before any big game, there’s always smack talk, and this year is no exception. It’s worth noting first, though, that both teams and players on those teams have appeared gracious and not talked badly about the other side.
“So it’s humbling, too, and just pretty awesome,” Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said after the team won the NFC Championship. “I don’t know. I’m kind of speechless. Just really proud of our guys. It was a team win. We didn’t play our best game on defense, but we made enough plays to win.”
He added, “Got to give them a lot of credit. They had a great game plan; did some things we weren’t ready for. We had to adjust again. Par for the courses for their offense. It’s a team win.”
On the other side, after the Patriots’ win over the Denver Broncos to advance to the big game, quarterback Drake Maye was positive. “What an atmosphere,” Maye said postgame. “How about our defense? We’ve got to win to go win one more. We’re gonna play better. We’ve got more work to do. I’m so proud of this team. It took everybody.”
But, the fans can be different. They don’t have to be all roses and positivity all the time. Now, a podcast is getting attention for talking smack about the Seahawks ahead of the big game.
Popular Podcast Has Not Nice Things to Say About Seattle Seahawks
In a show clip shared by the “Pardon My Take” podcast on Wednesday, January 28, the hots banter about the Seahawks and Patriots Super Bowl game, and one goes so far to say that “if you take the good teams off the Seahawks schedule, they actually haven’t played anyone good.”
Of course, followers were quick to comment. “Seahawks beat six different playoff teams… Patriots beat two,” one said. “Pats fans are delusional,” another added. “In the regular season the Seahawks beat 6 playoff teams 6 times. And then they beat the best offense in the NFL for a second time. Bad take,” one more said.
“As a Pats fan, yeah homeboy is off his rocker. I don’t have my patriots winning but outside of getting past three top defenses in the postseason, I still think Seattle is just significantly better but we will see,” another said.
So, even New England Patriots fans can’t agree with the idea that the Seattle Seahawks had an easy schedule while the Patriots did not. That says a lot. The post garnered a lot of attention, which was perhaps the point of it, anyway, but it’s not a realistic and reasonable conclusion.
Sam Darnold Talks Seattle Seahawks Win
After their win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game on Sunday, January 25, the Seahawks and quarterback Sam Darnold were on cloud nine.
“Great team win. Great team win,” Darnold said after the team’s NFC Championship win. “We came out, did exactly what we wanted to do on offense. I thought that was a great first touchdown drive, and then kind of hit a lull in the second, third quarter.”
