The Seattle Seahawks may be forging ahead with their offseason plans, but the team is still taking the time to savor its Super Bowl win.

The Seahawks took to social media to share some news about head coach Mike Macdonald, who led a rapid turnaround in Seattle by taking the team from fringe playoff contender to Super Bowl champions. The Seahawks coach made some history in the process, and the team announced some of those historic marks on social media.

Seahawks Praise Mike Macdonald’s Accomplishments

The Seahawks took to X to praise Macdonald’s early career accomplishment, noting that he was the third-youngest coach to ever win a Super Bowl.

“That’s our coach,” the team wrote in the post’s caption, along with a picture of Macdonald lifting the Lombardi Trophy.

The Seahawks added that Macdonald tied Jim Harbaugh and Steve Mariucci as the NFL coach with the most total win in their first two seasons. Macdonald led the Seahawks to 27 total wins in 2024 and 2025, which included the team’s Super Bowl run this year.

The team had already praised Macdonald in a previous post on X, noting that he was the NFL’s first head coach to win a Super Bowl while serving as the defensive play caller.

“Historic season, championship finish,” the team shared.

Mike Macdonald Looking Ahead to 2026

While the team’s social media department is squeezing every drop of attention they can from the Super Bowl win, Macdonald and his staff have already turned their attention to the coming season.

Appearing at the NFL combine this week, Macdonald said he hasn’t even bothered to review game film from the team’s resounding win over the New England Patriots. Macdonald added that he plans to work with his new assistant coaches soon, then is getting away from football for a while.

“Going to Hawaii next week,” Macdonald said, via Tacoma’s News Tribune. “So I ain’t watching it there, either.”

The Seahawks coach added that the reality of his team’s Super Bowl win is still sinking in for him.

“Hasn’t changed much,” Macdonald said. “It’s still surreal, that this all happened. I think you think you are a little insulated during the whole process (of the season, and the Super Bowl game itself). It will kind of unravel, I’m assuming, over time, where you can kind of go back and really cherish the memories. And obviously those are the things that you think about.”

The Seahawks also face some difficult personnel decisions ahead, with some key players headed to free agency including a Super Bowl hero. NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks predicted the Seahawks could lose running back Kenneth Walker III, replacing him by drafting a new running back with a Day 2 pick.

“Given the depth of the 2026 RB class and the Seahawks’ belief in the Shanahan/Kubiak system, which has always viewed RB as disposable assets, the Walker news is not surprising,” Brooks wrote. “The ‘Hawks will likely target a RB on Day 2 to replace the SB MVP with a younger and cheaper option.”
