The Minnesota Wild have made another move ahead of the NHL trade deadline at 3PM EST.

They made a move for Jeff Petry last night, and Predators forward Michael McCarron a couple nights ago.

Now, amid their push for Vincent Trocheck, they’ve acquired a talented young winger from the Flyers.

Michael Russo of The Athletic broke the news before the trade got confirmed.

Hearing the Minnesota Wild are working toward a potential trade for Flyers forward Bobby Brink. Wonder if they’re dangling David Jiricek or a prospect of that ilk.”

Russo confirmed that it was a done deal just a few minutes later.

He then provided a bit of insight into Brink’s game.

“Brink, who is a Minnetonka native, is a skilled winger. Smart, really good offensive instincts, can make plays, high compete and character. The Wild see him as third-line right wing who can move up in lineup if needed. Pending RFA this summer.”

It should be noted that Team USA Women’s head coach John Wroblewski had some interesting comments to Russo about Brink.

Not that they’ll necessarily play together, but John Wroblewski told me Bobby Brink and Matt Boldy had “unreal chemistry” at the 2019 Under-18s and he’ll “‘thrive under Hynesy.'”

Brink, 24, has 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) in 55 games played so far this season. Per Russo, Brink is currently on the way to Las Vegas for the Wild’s game tonight against the Golden Knights.

Michael Russo and Joe Smith of The Athletic reported the news of the trade.

The respected veteran defenseman was traded to the Wild on Thursday for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in June. The pick becomes a 2026 fifth-round pick if the Wild win two playoff rounds and Petry plays in 50 percent or more of their playoff games during those first two rounds.

Per the report, Petry is well aware that he won’t be a key part of the rotation in Minnesota.

Petry, 38, gives the Wild right-shot depth and, per team sources, understands he’s coming to Minnesota to be an extra behind Brock Faber, Jared Spurgeon and Zach Bogosian.

Petry, who has a big shot, is more of a defensive puck mover at this stage in his career, but the Wild like his experience and the fact that he shoots right.”

The defenseman will be available if needed for Minnesota’s game on Friday night against the Vegas Golden Knights. Russo and Smith also pointed out the fact that the acquisition of Petry may make David Jiricek or David Spacek expendable ahead of the deadline.

This would prove to be true, as the Wild traded Jiricek to Philadelphia for Bobby Brink.
