Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha recently made a bold claim, insisting that Benjamin Sesko has Erling Haaland-level potential. The young striker is in his first Premier League season. However, he has not matched the goal-scoring output he showed in the German Bundesliga.
Man Utd signed Sesko, 22, last August after paying a reported $90.1 million USD transfer fee. He joined the club after a strong two-year stint with RB Leipzig, where he scored 27 goals in 64 appearances.
So far in the 2025-26 Premier League season, Sesko has netted six goals in 21 matches.
Despite his debut Premier League season not being as eventful as Haaland’s, Saha still believes in Sesko’s potential. Speaking to CasinoHawks, the former French striker said Sesko has noticeable similarities to Haaland in many key areas.
“[Sesko] has a style like [Haaland], where his physique, his size, and his athleticism can really help. But there is also an element to his technique that allows him to score other types of goals,” Saha said. “I’ve seen it when he was playing abroad, and I remember moments in his game where he has shown that he is technically very gifted, which we don’t always see in strikers especially in those who are very tall.”

Although both players had similar paths to England through the German Bundisliga, Erling Haaland delivered in his debut Premier League season. Benjamin Sesko, meanwhile, struggled to live up to his Manchester United’s high expectations early on.
Haaland, 25, joined Manchester City in 2022 and made an immediately impact. The Norwegian striker set a Premier League record for most goals in a season, scoring 36 in his first year.
His debut season is very difficult to top, as Haaland helped lead Man City to both Premier League and Champions League titles.
Still, former Man Utd striker Louis Saha believes Sesko will soon hit his stride. The club has begun to show signs of improvement and can still push for a top-three finish.
“[Sesko] can score goals, that’s for sure, with the confidence and with the experience of playing with top players on top form as well.”
Saha Believes Sesko Has Yet to Reach Goal Scoring Potential With Manchester United
Saha also said that Sesko has yet to reach his full goal-scoring potential at Man Utd. He still has a long way to go before he can stake a claim as one of the Premier League’s top scorers.
Although he has scored on six league goals this season, Saha projected that Sesko can score up to 25 goals per year. He noted that the Slovenian has the skill set, physical attributes, and supporting cast to make the projection a reality.
“[Sesko’s] got all the potential to score 20-25 goals especially when you are the main man and you’re playing with some really good players. We have Bryan Mbeumo, who can also sometimes play in that position just to help,” Saha told CasinoHawks. “There is an element of encouragement in the way we play that shows he can score a lot of goals.”
