1. His Family Lives Together Under One Roof

Despite Carlos Alcaraz being a five-time Grand Slam winner and having $45M in reported career earnings, he still lives at home with his parents. On top of that, Alcaraz’s three brothers also live at home.

In addition to giving fans a glimpse of his home life in his Netflix documentary, the two-time defending Wimbledon champion spoke about the subject in an interview with The Times:

“I live with my mum and dad, my older brother and two younger brothers. To them I am not a big tennis star, just a normal guy.”

2.: His Grandfather Helped Establish the Tennis Academy He Trained At

According to Telegraph, Carlos Alcaraz’s grandfather, Carlos Alcaraz Lerma helped establish the Real Sociedad Club de Campo, where Carlos, who is now World No. 2 in the ATP live rankings, trained as a kid.

The club’s origin story was recounted by PEOPLE, who reported last month that the property that became Real Sociedad Club de Campo originally started as a hunting club. Alcaraz Lerma went on to help convert it to a massive sportsplex with tennis courts, swimming pools, padel courts, and a football pitch.

3.: His Father Was Once A Tennis Pro

As Carlos Alcaraz told The New York Times back in 2021, Tennis is in his blood.

“In my family, I think we have the sport in our blood. We all played from the time we were young.”

His father, Carlos Alcaraz González, was once a professional tennis player himself, and was ranked as one of the top 40 players in Spain during his heyday. Given his connection to the Real Sociedad Club de Campo, and the fact that he had four kids at home, however, Alcaraz González wound up walking away from the game and transitioning to an administrative role with the club.

4.: His Older Brother Played Doubles and Is One of Carlos’ Hitting Partners

When Carlos Alcaraz said his family has tennis in their blood, he wasn’t kidding. His older brother Álvaro used to play ATP doubles according to the tour’s website. While he no longer plays competitively, he travels with Carlos and acts as one of his main hitting partners in training.

According to Vogue, the two used to share bunkbeds when they were kids, and because of that, while traveling together, the two have kept up the tradition by sharing a room, including at the US Open several years back.

5.: His Younger Brother Jaime is Making Waves in the Tennis World

The long line of tennis players in the Alcaraz family doesn’t stop with Carlos. Over the past few years, Jaime Alcaraz, who is eight years younger than Carlos, has been making a name for himself in the tennis world.

Earlier this year, Jaime notably competed in the Miami Open’s Juniors division, as well as at Les Petits As in France, the same tournament players like his brother and all-time great Rafael Nadal once competed at. While the tennis community has been keeping a close eye on Jaime, Carlos urged people not to put too much pressure on Jaime.
